New Outboard for Tender ??

Just a 2.6 m Waveco. I agree about the power but it is so simple and light. I have a terrible urge to get one just to try it. The motor I have is a 3hp Yam Malta but I spent most of today clewaning the carbs and getting it going which I did ok. When I was having difficulty I looked at the price of a new motor and found these. Then I fixed the Yam ! :)

I have a need for a very small outboard to be able to stow it in the wet lockers so very keen to hear how you get on. If you decide to go for it please do let us know.

No mate. I've been burnt plenty. Besides where I am the river flows to 6knt. No way would that little motor help and if it died I'd overtaking BigWow and the other raggies on my way out the channel

I'd spend the £159 on a service and some new parts for the Malta, which is a great little engine and will still be chugging away long after the strimmer outboard would have died

I have got the Malta sinning like a sewing Machine now, Serviced it myself, Very easy to do and cleaned out the carb and Jets. Was just interested in this little offering

It is 4 stroke and also think how much less messing about there will be

There's something wrong about that ad, isn't this the same thing at £288: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OUTBOARD-...c24c527&pid=100005&rk=2&rkt=6&sd=291695388702

Nothing unusual in that. This will be a product developed by a Chinese manufacturer and taken to a trade show and/or put on Alibaba. A bunch of importers who do the rounds at these shows will independently have agreed to buy a batch and sell them on for whatever they think they can get for them. Some may decide to try and get a higher margin, others will try to turn them over more quickly or to sell more. There's no such thing as a MRRP with this trading model.
