do we know if the new owner knows about past problems.

i wonder how'd they feel to pay 800k and find out about any problems. do we also know if ocean deep was fixed properly prior to new sale.

The new owner will know nothing ! and will be told a pack of lies, Welcome to the marine industry, I was told by a "good" broker about a boat with good engines and vat paid in full !

First two sea trials failed over one engine and boat had to be towed back, Next the proof for vat was never found,

Welcome to the great world of boats !

On the basis that the new owner is unaware of the history of Ocean Deep, do Trader Yachts have any legal obligation to disclose the problems that have been associated with the vessel ?
Either very rich or very brave; I hope they have a better experience with TC than Gludy.

im stricty guessing here but it depends on what terms the boat is being sold under.
If it was being sold as a New boat then i would assume there would be problems.
If its a second hand vessel then so long as its fit for purpose when its sold i wouldnt suppose they would have any obligation to tell the new owners of its turbulent history. (so long as none of the literature specifically states the boat has had no work done)

just my guess

Surely any surveyor who might be engaged on behalf of the purchasers will have had some wind of the saga of Ocean Deep....
The industry is close-knit and there are a lot of people who read this forum too!!

" This is an almost brand New boat that the owner couldn't take delivery of due to personal reasons " TC June 07

Daka - Tony Chappell told me that he had the boat fully surveyed and there was no problem at all and that the new owner also had a full survey and there were no problems - and don't all shout at me I am only passing on what I was told!!

From what I understood, the boat was pretty much sorted by the end anyway.

It was the level of service that Paul received that spoilt the ownership experience, having to resort to legal threats to get anything done each time.

it was eh?? Hard to believe Gludy would have gone through the hassle of getting a refund, which he hestill hasn't received in full, for a pretty-much-sorted boat. True, it had seen a lot of things fixed, but only coz there were soo many things & so major.

And it was for sale for personal reasons? - Hah! that's very rich- The personal reason being that TC couldn't take the damaging publicity w/o sending his company down the river, surely?

fingers firmly crossed for the new owners.

Well, okay, mostly sorted apart from the "little transom problem", the roof of the engine room, the engine room vents, the keel, and errm yes. mumble.

It was at least better when he sold it, than the condition it was delivered in. Hence, "better than new" /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
