The transition trustees of the new charity being established to tend 2,000 miles of canals and rivers in England and Wales from April 2012 have today announced that it will be called the Canal & River Trust (or Glandwr Cymru in Wales) and have unveiled its new symbol.

Thats nice! what it be called in Scotland ?

and remaining in PUBLIC ownership - did you notice?

Oh yes, another thing - strange that a swan is so prominent in the new logo - or am I being particularly cygnetal?

Fixed that for you :D

The Swan is a crappy logo, whats wrong with one which indicates Waterways rather than Wildlife?

And why Swans, and not Rats, Voles, Seahorses etc etc.

Utter **** :(

Yes i think seahorses have very noble and royal look..opps have i said to much

Just in case my comments were too subtle for you .......... the new logo is a bridge (somewhat reminiscent of BW's old logo ) and a SWAN - now what river does that suggest to you? (hint - think swan-upping)

Are they being provocative, presumptuous, or do they regard the subsumation of the Thames into the new charity as a foregone conclusion?

Much as it would be fashionable to think of conspiracy theories (which in due course may be found true... hopefully not), it would be disingenuous of me to point out that BW own a "couple" of rivers.

It is this owns thing that does not fit well with me ,are they not custodians of these properties for the benefit of the nation..just like local authorities owning islands which and should be administered for the benefit of all.......Is the ownership of these assets going to be passed to these charities to administer ?..watch this space....

That is exactly what is happening with British Waterways and it is the governments declared intention to include the Environment Agency waterways subject to a review in 2014.
Be a good lad and take some time out to read back through this forum over the last couple of years. You might also like to look at the TMBA website where there is further information and links to various other sources of information.

I was asking a question ..please do not be condescending i have not addressed you in that way

You seem to spend a lot of time accusing other people of attacking you on this forum dude.

A quick peek at your previous post history confirms not one but several posts in the vein of the one above.

A good heartfelt piece of advice would be to reconsider other peoples intentions before replying in this sort of way! :o

This is the internet. As I said, you do it a lot. Not a good move if you don't mind me saying so :D

No hidden message, just a kind comment.

duesouth: this isnt about opinions: we are all entitled to our personal view of the world, whether others agree or not. Its about the way you express them....time to chill a little.

Feel free not to participate, the choice is yours and yours alone!

However, I feel your rather dramatic response might suggest you don't have quite the life experience you think you have.

As for the 'Suffer fools' stuff, well clearly you are wrong. The citizens of this particular branch of the forum are almost entirely kind considerate and decent blokes, apart from CEX54 who is allegedly a SWMBO, but won't post the pictures we requested, and Cuchilo, who admits to not being any of the above.

I would suggest you are far too touchy to enter into any internet forum I'm aware of, unless the Samaritans have branched out :D

Best course of action would be to get you arrse back into posting and forget this ever happened ;)
