New member with a question - Does what I want exist?

Hey folks, new member, first post.

So I'm currently shopping, or more accurately doing research prior to shopping, and I was hoping for some suggestions in terms of make/models to look at.
Must haves:
- Diesel engines
- Ability to cruise at ~18-20 kts while getting ~1 MPG (0.8+)
- Two cabins with queen beds
- Swim platform with no vertical ladder to enter rest of the boat (stairs are fine)
- Galley
- Generator
- GOOD cold AC

Really want:
- Flybridge
- 2 heads (in case one has issues)
- Cockpit/aft deck
- Icemaker

So, numerous Express models meet all the Must Have items but few of the Really Want items. I've looked at several Silverton and Carver and other cockpit/aft cabin/sedan bridge boats but haven't gotten any accurate info on burn rates at speed, so hoping folks here can help me in that area or with other suggestions.

Hi Troy, welcome along I’ll give this a bump. You don’t say where you are but I guess the US. Add to Halsey'ss list is preferred overall length, but hard to know what to suggest without some parameters.

If you can find one the Fairline Squadron 52 meets the stated requirements perfectly apart from the fuel consumption, it’s probably going to be more like 7 litres a mile. That’s nearer 2 US Gallons.

If a third cabin (bunks) is not a problem then have a look at the Sunseeker Manhattan 50 and 52, Princess P50 Mark III.

Budget is indeed an important one. New Princess F45 springs to mind, of which a test is in the magazine this month.

Fairline Turbo 36 meets many of these needs. Getting very cheap now, and many with decent pre-electronic era engines.

I’m bound to say this but an Azimut 39 will fit your needs. I got 1.15 Nm/gal cruising at 18-22 knots. Lots of space. High quality build. Large bathing platform for storing a tender. Transom gates on port and starboard side of the cockpit, means you can moor port or starboard side.

Basically any mainstream shaftdrive production planing flybridge boat in the 40-45' range should be able to achieve that sort of fuel economy at that sort of speed so really the world is your lobster. You dont say what budget youre working with or indeed where your cruising is (USA?). Without that info its difficult to make recommendations

With regard to AC, youre going to need two things, first a chilled water AC system from a recognised manufacturer (eg Cruisair, Condaria/Dometic) with a sufficient Btu rating to really cool the boat. For any boat youre looking at check the Btu rating of the AC system fitted and compare that with what a particular manufacturer of AC systems recommends for that size of boat. Boat manufacturers are not known to oversize AC systems on their boats but some offer 'tropical' spec AC for their models so thats worth looking out for. The second thing you'll need is a properly sized generator from a recognised manufacturer (eg Kohler, Onan, Northern Lights) to drive the AC when you are away from the marina and shorepower. I would estimate you need a generator of around 7 - 10kVa for a 40-45 footer.
