Hi everyone I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions but I'm totally not a boating person so asking on behalf of a computer illiterate family member.
My father in law recently bought a small wooden hulled boat to take out for pleasure outings and a bit of fishing (sorry I don't know what type it is but I can find out) it is powered by an engine and has a little cab that he stands in to steer it- I'm so sorry, I'm totally clueless!
He found an interesting reel of rope (that he doesn't need) and he's wondering if he could sell this and if so who would be interested in buying it? It's approx 150m long and 26 mm diameter it's Blue and appears to be a polycotton material with a white inner core. He's thinking that he could sell to fund repairs and tidying up of his boat but as yet he's got no friends in the boating world and not yet in a boat club.
A friend of his who does climbing says it's high quality stuff. Anyone know where I should advertise this stuff as he's tried on Gumtree and no one seems interested.
I've also got questions re sealing a wooden Hull but I'll try and find the right place for that question.
Thank you in advance

Firstly, welcome to the forum. I am sure that you are in the right place to get lots of advice. Just try to weigh it all up before you decide which bit of advice to take as some of it might be contradictory!

Some pictures of the boat together with how long it is (stem to stern) and what sort of engine is in it etc etc would help people when you ask other questions. The photos will help people decide what the hull construction is and will help with their advice.

I am sure that the length of rope is a joy to behold and a delight in the hand, but I very much regret that its not going to be worth lots and lots of money. Certainly not the hundreds of £ that you can end up needing to spend on a boat!

Where does he keep this vessel? You don't have to give any personal details; its just that it makes a difference in terms of advice you get. e.g. is it on a trailer or has he got a mooring for it?
