I forget which month it's labelled, but I mean the one which turned up last week: Great stuff guys. Lots from forumites: Growing Lad, That super SC39 carbon dash, Hurricane's latest - San Carles looking a bit on the tempting side now, I think.

And I haven't even read the Targa 58 piece yet...

Love that hybrid thing. Would be nice to go to Cowes on electricity instead of normal engine. Especially as my current boat is a petrol!

Think it's the June edition. I haven't got my copy yet as I think the Ash cloud is playing havoc with deliveries. I've got a .pdf but it's not quite the same as seeing it in print.

Agree with that. MBY has been excellent of late. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of MBM which is looking decidedly thin these days. Don't know why but it always seems to take twice as long to get through MBY as MBM.

I'm delighted you like what we're doing on MBY at the moment and can promise lots more exciting developments in the months to come. The big news is that we are planning a substantial refresh in the August issue (out in early July) with a number of new feature ideas and a more modern look for the whole magazine. I won't give the game away just yet but the idea is to weed out the elements you're not so keen on, increase those you do like, add some new content to the mix and make sure that the magazine and the website is focussed on delivering the type of stories you want to read. It's not rocket science but it should have the desired effect and I'm sure you'll be the first to let me know if it doesn't!

On that note some of the best stories we publish start their life here on the forums and the recent plea in the May issue for new contributors to come forward has resulted in a number of really promising new writers and story ideas. If more of you have a story to tell about your own boating experiences or would like to have a crack at contributing to a new series idea on how to spend the perfect boating weekend in and around your home port don't hesitate to drop me a line or send me a pm.

As for our colleagues on MBM, I should point out that both our magazines (and indeed all boating magazines) feel thinner than they used to due to the reduction in advertising consistent with the market. The number of editorial pages has stayed the same year on year for some time now.

Ahh - I was wondering if the latest copy was out.
Stuck here in Sant Carles until Mr O'Leary can get us home.

Just been out all day on the lagoon in the dinghy with SWMBO.
Landed on a remote (deserted) beach at the bottom of the delta.
Not a ripple on the water - absolute bliss.

So, there is a good side to the ash cloud but seems that it has now moved away so maybe we will be home tomorrow - shame!!!

I agree BJB. Great issue. Saved me from dying of boredom in hospital. The Targa 58 report was very good and gave a strong feel of actually being on the boat, though I wished they'd tested the tender launch system some more and reported on that. Hurricane's piece on Sat Carles was very nice, and a super picture anchored. Good to see Growing Lad's story (yikes!). Those guys doing the 5 month tour in the Azimut 62 drove straight past Antibes without stopping and so missed the very nicest port/town in the whole western Med (imho!)

Anyone know when the June edition of MBM is out?

Now I subscribe to MBM, and have done since day 1 almost
June issue?
Jezz, dunna tell Sheady or any of tother Guys in IPC Towers!
The June issue popped through me door last Friday.
Unless an Invoice arrives (then I will deny this post and claim insanity or summat, dead easy fer me!) I reckon I,ve got a copy 'buckshee'!:rolleyes;)

Growing Lads imput is good.
Then there is a bit of a Splurge ref the new Corvette 34

Now if IPC can direct funds through me crack (in the door)! one of those would fit the Bill;)
Fine Mag, at the Price:D

I also liked the Targa 58 piece and IMHO I pretty understood how that dinghy stuff works thanks to the pictures they put in the review. After all the critizing here it looks pretty good stuff too.
The T62 vs new T58 comparison makes me wonder why a wide versus thinner hull makes always such a difference to the MBY staff. Yes it is true it can help but in these speed ranges under 30 knots of cruise it does not make such the big deal they make of it. Once you go over fifty knots it should. Actually some of the better boats I rode Magnum, Itamas, and the old Bertram 54 are pretty wide and these turned out to be among the best seaboats not only in my books but in those of many others. Consider that the Napier designed B54 has similar deadrise to an Olenski hull 18 degrees aft and not only that ;) and that boat is still considered one of the best planning boats in existance today.....
Yes you will have a harder steering and handling with a wider hull, but the head sea difference is not that much, as is the following sea patter. You also get more comfort on beamy seas with a wider hull along with twice as much better stability.

Oh yes, a very nice issue,
I even discovered one of my own forum posts in the WNS article :)
thank you YBW for editing my poor english wording,
I feel flathered that they selected one of my humble participation's on this forum.
also enjoyed a.o. the article from Growing lad, just like I usually enjoy GL's posts.

this june issue came just a few day's later in my letterbox here in Belgium than in UK.
I was used to get my copy one or two weeks after the comments appeared on here.
