New Marina at sheerness

No matter what happens though Tom, the thing that will always stick with me about Sheppy was the newspaper article that headlined...."Dolphin found in Phonebox"

I think it will be a great option (as long as the security is good ;)) for boats on passage to and from the Thames that don't want to venture far off course for an overnight stop.

Find it very difficult to believe that there is the demand for the nearly 2000 + new berths that will be generated by both the Peel development and the smaller marina round the corner at Queenborough.
Also the 5000 new housing units slated to be built on reclaimed land nearbye could prove to be hard to shift.
Still good luck to them, the local newspapers are all up for it,in contrast the usual NIMBY reactions which would be found in the rest of the South East.

Guys, Have vision rather then knock it or look at reasons why it should not work?

When i stay in St Kats and othe rmarinas every night dutch and Beligum boats get in saying they wish there were more marinas with good serivces.

Bring it on !

Tom

It would be a very useful extra option when transiting up or down the Thames or an additional destination for visiting craft from the continent.

It does seem a lot of berths but there are very few empty marina's on the East Coast; perhaps a case of 'Build it and they will come'.

I do agree it would be a massive boost for the local economy and it could do with it.

Drop the dead Donkey.

Surprised that nobody has yet remarked on it being the only marina with a local bomb waiting to go off etc etc! Some HASEX spod may ban it thereby:-)

As you well know that only normally surfaces when its a slow news week and there are not enough dead donkeys around to fill the dead tree industry front pages, even Meridian TV has not covered it for err,,,,weeks.

Looks interesting Tom, I might have my new boat by then. I bet they'll be charging South coast prices though!

PS thanks for the offer of a hand to Holland - I'm still trying to get some haulage quotes.

Very good news indeed - there's an awful lot of boats in and around north Kent, many in drying creeks and mud berths, so I'm sure there's an oppportunity to pick up some relocations as well as new owners. I'll welcome both developments as a stop-off from coming up from the Thames heading for the east coast.

I stopped off in Queenborough for the first time last week and was pleasantly impressed - the main street has some lovely Georgian buildings and there are a couple of decent looking pubs and I could see it becoming a popular sailing/mobo centre.
