New Main - heard of Advantage sails?

I'm in the market for a dacron cruising mainsail for my 3/4 tonner.
In a discussion with a UK boat in Holland the name "Advantage Sails" came up.
Has anyone had any experience of sails from them?

For a racing sail my default position would be North Sails but for a cruising main I think North is a little OTT.
Parker and Kay or No1 as they are now known are on my list of possibles as are Lonton & Gray.
Would prefer a local-ish loft.

Not come across Advantage from Brightlingsea before....

Lonton & Gray would not spring to mind for cruising - Ian Gray has been hardcore racer for as long as I can remember, and Parker & Kay made my racing sails.
Dolphin made my current set, but Iam not likely to be a returning customer, although the sails are now correct and work nicely.

Personally I would be talking to Crusader(again) about Hydranet, but it's all personal.
Before I go off cruising I will probably saunter over to Wilkinsons for a set of bullet proof sails.

Very pleased with the work. Was provided with a made to measure main not a Cutlass standard spec, but with a tad too much roach which was sorted within days. Very helpful guy whose name completely escapes me. Seem to recall he is ex Dolphin.

While John Parker has a deservedly good reputation for racing sails, he builds equally good dacron cruising sails which last very well. He made a beautiful suit for my Westerly Storm, which are still in use by her current owner 12 years after they were built and clocked thousands of miles in my ownership. He also built an equally good suit for Wild thyme, our current Moody 425, 3 years ago and they're holding their shape like new after around 4000 miles (health issues almost precluded sailing last season).

If you give the time to sit down and discuss with John what you want out of your sails, he will give you the benefit of his experience and build you a suit to meet your needs. Also, if you place an order over the coming couple of months, you will find his prices can be reasonable, but not if you turn up in April wanting your sails in two weeks!

I have no connection with Parker & Kay, other than as a happy customer who no longer goes racing.

Cant agree more, John supplied me with new sails this year. Service and quality excellent. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

Mark SELF is the man at Advantage sails phone 01255 508 102/ 07909 542 138. Has e mail and website mark@advantage sails.co.uk and www.advantagesails.co.uk. He is frequently at Walton / Titchmarsh Marina. He valetted and re-stitched my sails last winter and made an over-boom winter cover. His prices were reasonable and his service was excellent. Absolutely no complaints and will use him again.
