New lock signs

I am now told that the centre section will show Self Service in white letters on a blue background and the bottom section will be used to show red or yellow panels for river conditions.

Seems a basic and simple to understand system especially compared to the old signage. ?

Looks good, but thought the lower panel was having the Red/yellow board etc... so that lock status can still be displayed ?
Although its disappointing this wasn't mentioned at user groups, if its just a standardisation of signage with other waterways then its just a case of updating the Thames.
Also too much consultation on such things can just delay progress, can you imagine all the suggestions on how to do it differently, not do anything blah blah !

I actually think they look quite smart and more professional/modern. The "Self Service" panel is, as suspected, white on blue so should be easy enough to recognise from a distance.

We don't know why the decision to change was taken. It may be to standardise with other waterways or it could be that some one found some spare cash at the end of the year and needed to spend it - who knows. I do think it would have been courteous to at least inform river users.

Mind you, it will be very easy to change the top panel to a C&RT version :D :D :D :D (Note - I have resisted the temptation .......... :D )
