Kent Police now have a new RIB Invicta. A 10m Parker Baltic Cruiser with twin 350hp outboards. It also has a cabin. I saw it on the Medway on Friday afternoon and it looked pretty impressive. It would seem it is based at Sheerness. I was on a MSBA zoom meeting and someone shared a Facebook link of a video of it, but unfortunately I can't find it again. For those with Facebook there's some pictures Here.
I wonder if it will intimidate the jet skis or just become a challenge to outrun?

Lets hope they think it is worthwile to tackle the PWC's. I bet with 700hp they should be able to catch a PWC unless they head for very shallow water (and hopefully run aground on a falling tide).

It was out and about last week and did see it alongside a motorboat near Folly Pt.
Looked more like saying "Hello" than anything else.
It is moored just across the river outside MDL Chatham this morning.(Thursday)

Nice to see they now have an enclosed all weather boat capable of operating for extended periods.
They used to stop on RCC pontoons every now and then for a flask of tea and presumably a very damp sandwich.
Always gave them a wry comment as they sat there in the freezing pouring winter rain, in full weather gear looking less than enthusiastic about life..
They always gave a cheerful and unrepeatable on the forum reply.

As for PWCs have never found them to be too much of problem as they do not creat much wash, wish I could say the same for some of the motorboats coming past our moorings.
In moments of weakness do think PWCs look rather lot of fun. :)

Whats the betting the will go for easy targets like people anchoring.. and ignore speeding jet skis and boat loads of immigrants.?
When I saw it on Friday it was heading up River to the M2 bridge, but was quickly stood down. If it's going to be regularly doing that route at "best possible speed" it's going to upset as many people as the jet skis.

I thought a while ago that Kent & Essex got together to share marine resources?
I think that was more to cover the Kent underspending / lack of resources, especially being the closest to the rest of Europe. I had a couple of conversations with a now retired member of the Kent Marine Unit who was really frustrated how much their hands were tied with what they were allowed to do. Senior management in Kent saw most activities afloat to be the responsibility of other agencies. For example the Medway was the responsibility of Peel Ports, illegal immigration and smuggling, Border Force. The Kent Marine Unit are/were also the Kent Search Unit and dragged away for missing persons, even sent to Blenheim Palace when Trump visited. Maybe this new boat is a sign of a change of heart.

At one time a police presence on our Admiral of the river Cruise weekend could be relied on .We can normally get 70 or 80 boats from RCC and the various Medway clubs and river authorities.
The Sheerness AWL , Peel Ports Harbour launch and one of the Switzers tugs always put in an appearance.
A few years ago Police could not find the time/staff or the money for fuel so the local council chipped in, we have not seen hide nor hair of them for several years now.
A real shame.

Are we sure its got outboards ????

Yes it definitely had outboards when I saw it going back to the Camber on Friday. I found the video I posted on the Parker RIBS Facebook page and the credits at the end show Kent Police. I assume the video is the boat they prepared for Kent Police.
