new keel fitted!

Hi all.
I posted asking about how best to fit a new lump of wood in the keel and thanks to al the great advice i now have it in.
there was a lot of wondering as to why the boat even had this "false keel" after contacting the previous owner and getting one of the old surveys it would appear that the mast was lost at some point changing hands and a larger second hand mast was fitted so the keel was dropped to compensate for the larger rig.

Neat job. Well done.

I did similar on my old Eventide. Removed the iron keel and inserted a 1" steel plate then an 8" wooden keel before putting the ballast keel back on. Did this because the boat was underballasted when built and later boats had about 25% more ballast. The deeper draft improved sailing ability as well.
