New Inn, Shalfleet

Just thought i would add the the Kings Head and Spice in Yarmouth are closed too.

Agents board on Spice says that they have agreed a let, so maybe will open ahead of the season.

Wheatsheaf and Bugle open.

Re: New Inn, Shalfleet..hopeful signs

"Inns of Distinction" are looking for staff for the New Inn, so there is hope when the ship's rations run low in Newtown..
"We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced chef to join us at The New Inn, Shalfleet, Isle of Wight. Inns of Distinction are returning to the ownership of The New Inn to recommence our 20+ year relationship with the site after the failure of the previous leaseholders. Under our previous ownership The New Inn achieved numerous awards from bodies such as the AA, Good Pub Guide and most notably Michelin among many others.
We are looking for an individual that is looking to progress their career and join a company that offers long term prospects and rewards. Your creativity will be encouraged, menus will be under your own control within budgetary controls. If you feel you have the credentials to help us to re-establish the reputation of The New Inn as the premier pub dining venue on the island then we will be interested in meeting with you" https://www.indeed.co.uk....

Re: New Inn, Shalfleet..hopeful signs

That is good news, I see they have 3 other pubs on the Island.

I think it had been Enterprise Inns - at one point in the last year they had 5 closed pubs on the Island. Their business model seems not to be geared to long term stability in the tennant slave.

Re: New Inn, Shalfleet..hopeful signs

I went on Saturday, their opening night. Had a good meal. The menu is fish/seafood heavy (which I love). Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Worth the wading through the mud (low springs) to get there!

Re: New Inn, Shalfleet..hopeful signs

It would be nice if they had moved the pub a bit closer. Going I can do half an hour in 20 minutes but coming back the half hour takes 40 mins

Re: New Inn, Shalfleet..hopeful signs

We are in Newtown creek this week and went to the New Inn yesterday, very nice fish and chips with a good beer garden. Very happy.

Has anyone else found this rather lovely still 360-degree photo taken from a drone, of Shalfleet Creek? Makes me want to go...

I always think "how close to The New Inn could I tie up the dinghy, to avoid the walk?" But you'd have to arrive at early lunchtime HW, and stay 12 hours till next HW when the pub chucks out, in order to float the dinghy back to the yacht. Sounds like a plan. :)

Are there any more reviews of the menu and beer, since the new management started?
