Hi all,

New to this board (well almost, I posted in another forum and was reccommended that this is the place to be ) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I`m from "Up North" Newcastle (North Shields to be precise)
I`ve an Ocqueteau 625 called Slinky Kate berthed in Royal Quays marina and fish and play from the river Tyne, generally within a 10 mile radius of the harbour.

Welcome to forum. On a good day, what ends up on your tackle. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifDown here in our river we seem to have bass of various sizes and not much else.

welcome Norman

similar boating for me with a slightly grown up version of your craft.

summer is for the family, winter and spring for fishing and we argue about autumn depending on how good the summer was!

Do you have a trailer or are you restricted to travel by water?

Hi ,

Thanks for the replies, fishing up here in North East is mainly for Cod & Ling we catch mainly 3lb to 8lb fish with a few double figures thrown in each season. There is the odd 20lb+ fish caught but not often.
We do get several other species such as Pollack,Coalie,Whiting,Pouting,Guernard, Catfish and at the moment millions of Mackerel ....... (and a host of flatfish) so fishing is quite varied. I`ll sort some pics if anyones interested ...........

Thanks again for replies

Welcome Norman - I do like your little diagramatic signature boat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The type of boat you have is very popular here in Porthmadog - in fact the Peche Promenade style of boat lends itself perfectly to our area, hence you see quite a few of them and two of my friends have just bought the same.

Have a good season...well, what's left of it /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yeah Dave, whats left of it LOL , although we`ve had a heatwave (and this is difficult to believe) the weekends through it on the north east coast were always an easterly wind keeping us from getting out to sea . So, although the view of it`s been a scortcher is fine for land based pastimes it`s not been that way for sea going lads and lasses.

Still even if it was one day a year it`s better than none LOL /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh yes indeed! remember "Peacemaker" and "Turncoat"? Peter Chinn designs weren't they?

But I could only afford one at a time, not 4 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

If it crashed, it was game over for the day /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My last "flying wing" based on the Turncoat lasted me from the age of 16 when I built it to just two years ago (at the age of 48!) when the airframe literally broke up in mid-air one day. Having performed my own "air accident" investigation, I found that the whole airframe was as rotten as a pair and soaked with castor oil.

Old planes never die, they just succumb to gravity! (and the engine still works fine by the way)
