You may remember I had an alternator failure a few weeks ago. Not a big issue as I got an exact replacement a few days later.

Put it all together with a new twin belt pulley and all was well. Fired it up and it worked perfectly.

Yesterday I started the port engine up and heard a metallic squeaking.
Not good I thought. Took a look and found black dust around the new alternator...belts rubbing already...newish belts as well.

A closer look shows that the new alternator is not 100% inline with the crank and water pump pulley.

My fault I know as I should have checked better.

I just hope I have not cooked the new alternator bearings already?

Any thoughts?

Yes!

a lot of aftermarket kit now is made in Tiawan/China and their accuracy is not up to scratch.

Try buying parts for classic cars -they all need to be fettled before they fit properly

The annoying thing is what i put on was exactly as i took off..or so i thought.

Looks like i need another spacer on the spindle.
