New foam or self inflating mattresses?

The settee cushions on my new boat were a bit thin, so I went to foam supplier and discussed it with them. A couple of days later he had cut me some pieces to size. There was a higher front to the cushions (dunno the technical term), so the cushions needing a bit of trimming (electric carving knife) and assembled with Evostick.

Transformed the comfort. About 60 quid.

I had new foam cushions made for my IP23 four years ago, but never fitted them and now have a different boat. From memory they cost me about £300. If you want them you can have them gratis - they`re just stuck in a spare room taking up space. I`m in the north east.

Thanks for the offer, but the chances of them fitting a Berwick are slim! I'm hoping the Froli system will be a winner, but won't be able to test it out until late January.

Interesting Dennis F.
I shall await a report.
Seriously looking at Froli for my small double bunk.
I currently have the rather pathetic as built matress with a 2" memory foam topper , not bad but could be better.
One issue is that I only just have enough shoulder room at present and would probably have to ditch one of the two things I currently use.
The Froli stuff is 3cm thick.

Managed to pop to the boat today to check out a few things and installed the Froli system in a quarterberth. It makes a huge difference in comfort! If I can figure out how, I'll attach a few photos. Here is pic 1 hopefully.

DennisF,
i'm looking at Froli as you will be aware.
I have an small double to consider and am not understanding the unit layout as well as I might.

Would you mind letting me know what size your single bunk is and what spacing you are using (narrow , medium or wide) and how many units you used ?

I will need one bed plus their upgrade pack i think but on some calcs I need 2 packs which is looking expensive.

I have two runs of 58 x 187cm to cover plus a bit.

Thanks

The bunk is a bit over 6 ft long, not sure about width as it tapers being a quarterberth. I'd guess at it being around 70-75 cm at the chest. I guessed a single 'bed n a box' would be ample as it tapers. I used 53 units on the narrow spacing, which left 7 spare. Hope this helps.

The Froli system improved our comfort significantly.

Easy to fit too.

pks1702,
could I ask what you used on top of the Froli ?
I could have the original mattress or a 2" memory foam topper.

Not both due to problems with shoulder room under the cockpit floor.

As promised, an update after testing the system for real. Using the original foam cushions on the Froli system was a revelation! A much more comfortable night's sleep and no back ache or shoulder pain that I was getting without the Froli system. Definitely recommended :-)

Thanks for the feedback DennisF.
I too have decided to go Froli.
Have not bought any yet.
My boat has a double which i fear will not quite be covered by the single + extender pack , so it will be a double Froli pack.

Just getting up the fiscal courage to order it.

Q- where did you get yours from ?

There are not that many sources in the UK

I used the original mattress the system made a huge difference. It has the added benefit of allowing air circulation under the mattress cutting down the chnances of condensation/damp.

I got mine from the same outlet DennisF has listed.
