New fixed VHF.. Standard Horizon GX1850 /2400 or something else..

I’ve got the ‘B’ version with AIS transmit/receive. This will be the third season and all works as it should. The wireless mike is great for controlling the vhf as my set is tucked away out of sight of the helm, however when I transmit using it my voice booms out over the extension speaker which is disconcerting so I transmit using the hand mike plugged into the back of the radio and use the wireless mike solely to control the radio. The wireless charging on the wireless handset is a nice feature
Thanks Jamie.. Interesting point about the extension speaker..

I think this is the benefit of a ram mike over wireless as the ram has built in speaker and separate volume for both, Assume the wireless dies not have this option as the requirement for external speaker, also never had a set that when transmitting sends the audio out over speake.

The wireless handset does have a speaker with separate volume control, if you have two you can use them as intercoms. The bleed to the external vhf speaker is a pita though. I have the external speaker next to the helm as the vhf is remote and the two mike speakers are too quiet with the engine at cruising revs.
