I know this has been done to death but the search function has defeated me. my trusty Simrad RD68 mike is failing, the set Txs but there is no voice. advice on that appreciated but failing that what is the consensus on the best replacement set? quite a lot of sets seem to have AIS but I am not sure the displays are any good and my plotter is ancient so prob doesn't interface. The mount isn't flush so size and shape don't matter much

I can spell but iPads don't help, I mean dsc not disc

I'm very pleased with my Standard Horizon with integral AIS, if AIS isn't important go for one with built in GPS as it simplifys installation.
I believe SH have now got one with AIS and GPS...good future proofing.

+1 for standard horizon, the DSC functions are easier to use than most, and hence the radio is more useful than most.

I suppose I'll have to buy a DSC VHF when the present non-DSC Swiftec packs in. Since it just sits there 95% of the time as an ornament, I hope it might last quite a few years yet.
