...of our first proper sail on Lady Jayne and b**dy cold it was too.

Still, it will remind you why your boats are out of the water (if you have more sense then me) and may encourage those of us that attempt to sail all year round.

Mind you LJ is coming out of the water this month to start her refit so thats it for me for the season. Roll on the summer eh!

The film should be here (http://www.theblindsailor.co.uk/video/) if there is nothing on telly.

Cheers all,

Steve

Millbeech...

... Yes I suspect it was us messing about. Got to the No2 PHM at the enters fe to Lawling Creek, put about and headed to the Queens Head for bacon sandwich and a pint.

Painfully cold though, after an hour I couldn't feel my toes, despite three pairs of warm socks!

Pleased with the sailing though, seemed a lot of leeway though.

That must have been you beating past Heybridge as I came in to Maldon.
Two days, two bags of coal, too cold! But then a day afloat is worth a week ashore, anytime.
I spent Saturday night in Lawling and wind-against-tide was as bad as Pyefleet. Moral: the forecast isn't always wrong!

Aha!

My son James said that was a Spray heading upriver. He lusts after one, has done for ages. Very pretty boat. Where in Maldon do you keep her?

I agree entirely about time afloat. We might have frozen our nadgers off but well worth it!

I've been at Downs Road Yard for a few years. The place has a certain charm; a few liveaboards, a few derelicts and one or two who actually sail.
If your son fancies a challenge, I know where there's another 28 from the same mould that the owner will never complete.
