Just found the latest update of iPhone IOS 17.11 has a new feature for photos and videos. They have added a horizontal line that shows when the screen is level. This means all your photos and videos should now be level to the horizon. That will be such a massive addition for making sailing videos, plus ensuring photographs are level and buildings or masts are upright.

Wow, didn’t realise IOS was so far behind. Had similar for at least 5 years on my Samsung’s

Good luck with that. I have a similar feature on my camera, plus a screen grid and most of my pictures taken at sea still need straightening. I find it useful on land, though.

I use my iPhone for snapshots - Nada Mas.
Video afloat I use a DJI Action 3 .. brilliant kit - inbuilt stabilization works good - automatically - either mounted on the taffrail or handheld.

I still have a couple of old SJcams I now use mainly for underwater hull inspections but the DJI is the 'go to'.
My first attempt at a Youtube thingo - first land based bit was iphone, the 'at sea' bits the DJI.

Or use a GoPro with horizon lock so you don’t need the line! Also works inside the cabin to show how rough it is as the horizon is locked so the picture moves!

Nothing new, been on Andriod for years.

I believe it's the Camera app, of which there are many, rather than the OS
Yes, the built-in app in my RealMe Android phone switches off after a few minutes. This is no good for wildlife phone-scoping (OK for selfies, perhaps!) so I had to install a freebie alternative. Which has levelling functionality...

The line is based on the phone accelerometer. So at sea, overly rigid adherence to it is fairly likely to give you photos that are just a little bit out in some conditions.
