For nearly a year now, since we bought a new TP32 in France to replace an earlier model which had given several years reliable service (it was made in the UK) but died, we have been battling 5h1trad UK (now an offshoot of an odiously unreliable Scandiwegian outfit) for it to be replaced.
As per warranty, it was returned to the vendor in Lorient, NaviOuest. They returned it to us two days later and said it did not have any fault, Put it back on, but still it would not go into the NAVLOCK mode. The indicator light was permanently on, and when a waypoint was input and NAVLOCK selected, there were two beeps.
When we returned to our UK winter base, I contacted 5h1trad who would not comment on the problem but said we could return it for testing - +£100 inc insurance.
The numpty at aforesaid ripoff merchant said I would probably have to update my plotter/NMEA system on board as the TP32 used the 'latest' NMEA 0183 iteration and it might not work with earlier versions. Total, utter bullshit, garbage and slopy shoulder crP. The latest NMEA version is 4.11, but this was not introduced until November 2018, so the most up-to-date the TP32 could have would be 4.10.
Matters not, because what the goonybird att 5h1trad support should know is all Neema 0183 iterations are backwardly compatible and only offer additional facilities. None of these are related to autopilot sequences.
Today, we had our onboard electronics checked over by a superb young female electronician, who confirmed my wiring and setup was fully functional and correct. The TP32 was NOT.
She even telephone 5h1trad's French support engineers, described the self-same fault I had put to Cap'n Slopy Shoulder in the UK and was told . . . it is FAULTY. It is not working. It must be returned for a warranty replacement.
Now the fun is going to start.
So, be warned. DO NOT EVEN THINK about a 5h1trad TP32 or any other product from this company, which has shown repeatedly it is totally unwilling to honour its legal commitments.
