New exhausts

No it isn't, this is a small factor, its the acids produced by the combustion process which causes the greatest problem and if you dissolve them in sooty deposits from combustion you effectively get a soot and acid paste inside your exhausts.
We will have to agree to disagree on that .You have taken one sentence out of context of the paragraph.
Ok I will pose this Q consider the difference between marine ( with salt water injection ) and none marine eg a truck , geny , car diesel .Or as MapisM infers plane water lake boats ?

The salt water adds additional more nasty acids to your already acidic combustion combination, so much so it’s undoes virtually any metals and esp the welds down stream of the salt water injection .

Are we saying the same thing ? Your soot paste my “ cake “ ?
Although my “ cake “ is more nasty down stream of the seawater injection , due to the salt water than your plane soot paste .

Incolnel is better in aircraft jet engines etc ( where it was developed) because there’s no salt water + hot diesel gases in the nasty acid process. That does not necessarily follow it will be superior than the various grades of stainless steel , downstream in sea water injected marine diesel exhausts .
Its used primarily with a aviation fuel .Different chemistry ball game .
