New Eberspacher won’t run

Hi. Bought a new Eberspacher D6 to replace D5LC. It started OK but would shut down (abruptly) after a while and restart. This would happen every 20 mins or so. Fuel supply seemed good, batteries at healthy voltage (and connected to charger), thermostat set correctly etc. Disconnected fuel line and fed it from a separate bottle to test. Disconnected ducting in case that was blocked. Did factory reset. Got lots of random fault codes, including flame fail sensor and ducting problems. Sent heater unit back to supplying dealer (twice) who tested and said was running OK but did report an historic low voltage reading (under 11 volts) when they received my unit for testing. This is a bit confusing as my AGM batteries are quite new and are connected to shore power. I have connected the heater directly to the battery for testing and measured the voltage at the harness connector at the heater end. This has shown a healthy voltage. installed new pump, controller and wiring loom. Still have problem. Anyone got any ideas please? Thanks
 
OP, your wiring or connections are poor. Low voltage at the unit means that either cable inadequate or a clamped terminal is not tight/clean enough

I have had this issue with 3 sucessive variants/units and my final go to is always to take unit out of no doubt cramp boat space and run it in back garden dipping the fuel feed into my 1 gallon diesel can and check voltages at both ends of supply cable.

It doesnt need the exhaust pipes for the test but it obviously does need the control cable
 
I had such a problem years ago with a new Eberspacher. The problem turned out to be the fuel pump. I can't remember if it was a leak on the vacuum side or an electrical connection problem, but would be worth checking both.

I presumed the OP had a new pump suited to new capacity of heater

If pump won’t run at all the heater won’t start. Pump clicks audibly when pumping
 
I'm surprised that anyone still buys these extortionately expensive heaters. The Chinese equivalent costs £50. Buy two, and have a complete spare.
 
Always give the things a couple of start ups mid summer, if it dont start then it aint going to go when you most desperately need it.
Far more pleasant to mend in August than December plus your local Eber fixer will probably be "twiddling his thumbs in summer" and actually daine to look at it.

When fitting any new heater vital that it is fitted with the new supplied pump.
When repair to my old eber was around the cost of 2 or 3 chinaspachers, the replacement chinese unit purchase would not work with the original eber pump.
With the chinese pump fitted it fired up first time.
Have also installed in the dim a distant past one of the Russian versions complete with new pump.
Fired up first time after working out how to actually use a very simple basic control unit.

Does it shut down after 20 minutes with all ducting removed? It seems to me that power and pump are good if it runs well for a time. Likely cause is overheating due to problems with ducting, either exhaust or warm air.
Experience with Autoterm heaters (via my son) is that 99% of problems are due to installation. The units themselves are very reliable. I suppose the same to be true of Eberspacher
