Because of the late start to the season for us and going on several trips this is the first time we have gone out of the River Deben in Suffolk UK and seen for our selves the new channel/entrance to the River. It is very different this year (2023) than previous years. All I can say is follow the bouys carefully and keep to 2 hours ish either side of high water.

It must have been 40 years ago but there used to be a guy you could radio up and he would guide you through. I guess he was a retired local just wanting to help.
Things must have changed, I don’t remember any tide restrictions not for motor boats anyway.

The entrance is surveyed every year by Trinity House and there is still a Harbourmaster who will provide advice of you give him a call. In today’s digital age the chartlets and advice are online.
