Yesterday' s daily Notices to Mariners (31st August) reported a dangerous wreck close by the Colne Bar starboard hand buoy. I would suggest you don't pass close by the buoy!

The Brightlingsea harbour team told me that a small day fishing boat sank there a couple of weeks back. People on board rescued. Trinity House have surveyed the area for the wreck, hence the NtM. I believe the LAT clearance is 4m, so not likely to be of a concern to most of us. It isn't within the Brightlingsea Harbour Commissioners area.

I and Dick (Cantata) thought that 'dangerous' might be a little pessimistic. But in fairness to the UKHO they will always urge on the safety side.

Sad about the casualties but good they were rescued.
