Well it had to happen .. SWMBO had suggested we should find someone else to help .. 2009 has been a really great year .. We have really learnt alot and made some really nice friends along the way .. So for 2010 we decided on a new crew member .. Had to be someone who enjoyed others company .. Be able to compete with the pink crocs etc .. So meet Molly the latest addition to the crew of Sea Mist II ..

She has been running rings round us so far .. Border Collie Rescue said she was very bright , so lets hope we can teach her how to get out of the Deben Enterance and back in again while we enjoy a G&T :D

Have a great day

Hi Guapa

Rescued Tikaani about three months ago after losing our previous Malamute, turns out she doesn't like water and refuses to get on the boat :o

Siberian Huskey

What do you expect from a Siberian Husky .. It thinks the ICE is melting and time to beat a hasty retreat ..

Siberian Husky ?
I'll have you know she is a pure breed Alaskan Malamute
Unbelievable part being that the family she was rescued from were even allowed to have her in the first place as the breed is very well known for being an extremely strong dog and they had no idea how to look after one
Used to pin the ten year old two legged house dweller against a wall :D
She's fine now though, just need to know how to control them without doing anything unpleasant. I have to be top dog somewhere after all :o:D

Pink Crocs Rule

You bought some pink crocs then ..

Sorry Sixpence .. Alaskan Malamute .. Pheeeew .. Disaster Averted ..

Scared of water then .. Must be related to the cat family .. Peeeeeeow ..

If only I could find that rolly smiley thing :D
I can assure you my good man, that no such item is ever likely to adorn these size ten feet of mine
I admit Louise has two pairs of fake ones though :o
No accounting for taste :D

Bed Calls

Enjoyed the banter .. Catch up with you again soon .. Just hope Molly likes the boat .. :p

Don't expect any wooden deck / hatches to survive!

Had to sand back and revarnish the cockpit hatches after we took Charlie our 'Sprolly' (Springer x Collie) on the boat for a weekend.

Good Luck!

They are bright and need loads of stimulation, when he was younger if he got board he could be rather naughty and destructive. His favourite was to sit on the dining room table and chew the tops of the chairs. Did 5 out of 6 one afternoon whilst SWMBO was at work!

Mollie

We're off down to the boat weekend after next to move her from the Deben upto Ipswich Haven. This will be the first time for the dog on the boat. Does anyone have any tips for getting her used to the boat?:confused:

I think you'll be surprised how easily she will take to it. Our dog settled down very easily. We took his bed so he knew he had 'his space' onder the cabin table and he had a sniff around first then sat next to SWMBO to start with - not sure who was comforting who as SWMBO doesn't like the boat anyway! Charlie loves water so we kept him on the lead and tied down or lead held the whole time! He is always happy when he is with people.

From my experience with Collies, provided you have a strong relationship with them they will follow you anywhere.

Once with my Collie she was on the beach with the family, I was at the top of the cliff, I called to her, regretting it instantly, as she climbed the 100" cliff face to be with me.

She got within 4" of the top and was stuck, unable to go back down.

I has to persuade her to jump up whilst I leant over to catch her. A scary moment for both and one of mutual trust!

My current dog, a Lab is the same, wants to be wherever I am.

We race with him on occasion, he settles down below on his bed, though being black I only occasionally see the faint tinge of green! He wears his orange buoyancy aid without any bother and it keeps him warm topside.

Take your dogs bed with you (at least the soft part) having something familiar helps.
