Decided that a new spray hood was needed as the existing one was held together with faith and hope and they weren't up to the job. So instructed Dolphin Sails on the recommendation of the people in the office at Fambridge. Also ordered new mainsail cover and dodgers so it all matched. Bit posey but in truth they were also heading the way of the sprayhood. Saw the finished and fitted results yesterday and first impressions are very favourable. The hood was restyled to bring the wings inside the cockpit so I can get to the coachroof directly without having to negotiate the tiny side decks and tracks. Seems it'll work just fine, will know more after this weekend when the plan is to go sailing, oh yeh, that's after a visit from the gas man and helping a friend sort out his shaft anode.

How much did the sprayhood cost if you don't mind my asking (PM if you'd rather not say publicly or ignore if you DO mind me asking! ;))

Brigantia is going to need a new sprayhood sooner rather than later I fear and my expenditure authorisation from the management is not terribly generous at the moment!

Ug, thought I'd put the info out last night, but no sign of it this morning (maybe the wine interfered with the brain/integer/post interface). Anyway, dolphin visited the boat and spent most of the day measureing and pattening. Also spent most of another day fitting and another fitting. Apparently they did 3 boats on each visit - I wasn't there for all of the time.

Budget costs excl VAT are:-
Hood £650, track £50, leather wear patches £75
Mainsail cover £180
Dodgers £120, Letters £84, Pockets £60

Final bill was around the £1250 mark, still awaiting final invoice and breakdown. Interestingly the cost for my friend's hood was about the same as mine even though I'm 22' and he's 32', most of the cost is in the labour I guess.

Thanks Pioneer, £650 plus extras is in the ball park of what I was expecting (although I was desperately hoping it would work out cheaper!). I suppose this is one area where being a small boat doesn't offer much advantage cost wise since as you say most of the cost is the labour

Now I've got to get to work persuading the keeper of the purse to let me have another big heap of pennies!
