One project I want to do this season (note the optimism) is to replace our microwave as the turntable has stopped turning. I replaced the motor and the new one blew within in minutes.

Now the tricky bit is it needs to fit a 460mm wide cabinet and not the standard 560mm. Those measurements are internal, externally its 500mm versa 600mm.

I've tried AO, Curries and UBALDI and not had much luck.

Ideally the new microwave will have a grill and the perfect solution is it is also a combination oven.

So without getting into a custom infill to surround a standard microwave anyone got any tips?

Look at models from the same manufacturer

I was lucky when I had to replace a built in one in my kitchen ..... I had an idea that it was a re-badged Panasonic so looked at Panasonic ones and found one exactly the right size.

BUT dont fall into the same trap that I did..
I thoight a combination oven+ microwave would be a good idea and actually bought one.... It was not until I unpacked it and read the instructions that I discovered it would not be suitable for building in to a housing ... Needed too much free space around it.
Fortunately Currys took it back and swapped it for a straight microwave without question

Very pleased with the eventual outcome because all the old trim fitted around it and you would not know it was a replacement

I had a double whammy .....not just the space but the picture frame white valance bit as well .
This is the old one .Did the measurements went and got one but it did not fit .
luckily the shop is a 10 min drive so took it back , they refunded and also i took the old one and the valance with the help of an assistant managed to find one that fitted both parameters.

Interestingly there’s no std sizing they are over the place dims wise .

Shane - good luck with that one ! As you know I've had my 37 a little bit longer than you and had been instructed by the boss to find suitable combi microwave oven to fit the space. With us being in the kitchen design and installation industry I initially thought it would be an easy win. 5 years on I gave up. We still have the original fit microwave/grill and we purchased a free standing mini oven which we keep in a locker and put on the countertop when required. I did find a couple of microwaves with additional features (not full combi's), but most were designed to be freestanding and don't comply with the air gap round the perimeter of the appliance if "fitted in". I can probably dig out my previous research if you're interested. From memory look at Panasonic and Samsung semi professional catering equipment - not necessarily high street available stuff.

Good luck with the search.

Look up the numbers on the circuit board to find the manufacturer. Many popular brands are, in fact, the same except for cosmetic differences.

That is how I found a £60 equivalent for a £400 marine brand, which had to fit a low-profile space in a boat, many years back.
