New Boat

Over the years I can think of many cases where people have been caught out by the builder or dealer going bust. There was that Jeanneau dealer in Wales (can't remember the name), people with boats in build when Broom ceased, people with boats in build when Nordwest went under. These three are just examples from within my own little group. I would be very wary of how I conducted business when buying a new boat.

Yet some defenders of the boat industry still say there's no risk!

Wouldn't it be good if the magazines in the YBW stable started a campaign for buyer protection on new boats?

The big builders that supply the majority of the charter market must be on a knife edge.
Groupe Beneteau are a quoted company, so a lot of info is readily available. They are losing money because of covid, but are still pretty strong financially.
