Morning all,

Not been on here for a long time but I'm now moving from sail to power. I've done my time at 6 knots...!

Looking at a Targa 33..1989. What should I look for and what should I know?

It's got the usual 200hp Volvo's...so whats it's going to burn at cruise.

All advice is very welcome.

Hi, i've just purchased a sunseeker portofino 31 with 200hp volvo diesels, im led to believe that fuel burn should be about 13 gph at cruise (about 25-28knots) giving 2mpg. would imagine roughly the same for the targa 33. Look at the oilcoolers (large green units mounted to the oil filter housing) one of mine was corroded and needs replacing, tried a second hand one but not much better so having to get a new one, £940 !!!!

You should arrange to have survey and this should include a trial. You may also wish , in addition, for an engineers inspection of the engines and outdrives. The engines/drives represent a significant part of the boats value. A serious defect, if missed, could be financially embarrassing.
If the surveys reveal unexpected defects you would expect to be able to use the survey report to support negotiation of an appropriate price reduction.
