I may have mentioned before that a friend has one of these that may be for sale:

It's petrol and has an outdrive and you lot have taught me to avoid these things. Plus I am as skint as most people at present. But at what price point might purchase become a 'no brainer'? Note, this is not about taking advantage of my friend, the latest conversation informs that it might be sold to a dealer / marina for a price which I think is low. Also note that I can't imagine letting Moxon go so it would have to be an addition rather than a replacement. Perhaps that answers the question right there?

Any thoughts please?

It reminds me of our very first boat - a Viking 22, which we absolutely loved. But petrol - Not sure :(
I'd have a whole fleet of boats if I could!

Old Volvo petrol and outdrive too!!

Best budget boats like that are Birchwood 22 or 25 which have shafts and simple Cortina engines in the main. Very cheap to run too.

THat will cost £500 at least, every two years for the out drive service alone.

Small petrol no problem on cheap boats, but avoid Volvo unless you like really scary parts prices!

Obviously if the price is silly then of course you have to buy it if only to put it staight back out there at a profit. However listen to what No Regrets has said, it makes sense.

I was in the same position when i saw Cuchilo . I loved my little 18ft cruiser Seaspray but Cuchilo was a better boat and a bargin price . I kept seaspray for a bit but paying double mooring fees was tough . In the end it was daft to try and keep both boats so i sold Seaspray cheap in the hope that the next person could have great fun with her .
If i could have got seaspray on a trailer i would have but i'm glad i got rid of her now and moved my boating on .

I can see you understand! It's mostly the heart ruling the head and Moxon is my first love.

Having said that she is very modest and I've spent what probably needs to be spent, (please don't feel like I'm tempting your anger Mme Fate). Still tempted by the larger boat. I'll discuss it with the wife - that'll be the end of it :-)

Same here . Opened the door to look at the new boat and she said BUY IT !!!!!

Dear Mr C.

Is it not about time you posted some updates on that project hidden away in the workshop? You know the one.....all that scrap wood with hammers and nails and screws and sellotape and stuff?

Careful - SWMBO said I couldn't ever get a new boat. I managed to get her onto a Princess 480 (50 bloody feet of it!) for a nose and now both she and my mum are twisting my arm to get it!! Pointed out that a) I really, really can't afford to buy it b)I really, really can't afford to run it and c) it's way too big for the Thames, but they're having none of it. I'm not getting it. Shame, it's preeeettttttyyyyyy :)

So you are going for it then??

Sounds like you're treading a similar path to the one I went down 2 years ago. And guess what? :)
