Ok, well, I've asked the questions about engines, pit falls, surveys and getting the thing back. Now, after a very wet Monday in Greece with a German bloke called Nico I have agreed a deal on....

A 2001 Bavaria BMB 330!

Must say, fingers crossed as the survey hasnt been done yet but it looked lovely (if that counts for anything) and I cannot wait until she is on the ship home. So, to indulge me, here are the photos.

I am really pleased, though SWMBO has now banned me from boat websites with boats for sale - I'm only allowed on here because I have said I cannot BUY a boat on here!

Anybody want a Bayliner 285?????

Oh, the other thing SWMBO has insisted on is another day with your good self. Do you think this is in danger of becoming a yearly pre-season thing? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

lol /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I think this might do you for at least a couple of years /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm ready when you are!!

I see they turned on the rain to make the experience more like home /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Whats the transportation plan?

I thought about a run from Kos, through the Corinth canal to Corfu, then up through Croatia to Koper in Slovacia then onto truck to cherbourg and a hop across the channel. TBA, its a boat I dont know, with engines which look good but there is trust issue still. cost for that route is about £6000 including fuel etc.

Found today I can get the boat to Turkey (north Bodrum, cant remember the port) to load onto a ship for Southampton for £3900, so will probably do that and have her 'home' for April

Looks really nice! You're gonna be WELL pleased if the survey etc. comes up trumps. They're a great boat and I'm not biased, honest. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Sounds like the making of a YBW article - in reverse /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck to you.
SV2.

Getting it home

excellent.

Is there a survey/seatrial thingy? And if so ...could they fling in a bit of berthing so you get a nice hol in warm weather early in the season?

The road trip is probably the best thing altho it wd be a fab coastal trip it needs time to enjoy really.

Re: Getting it home

Yes, Survey bloke is going on Monday or Wednesday (from Bodrum) next week I think. He will do hull structure, fluid analysis in both engines and a full sea trial.

I can have the berth till September if I want it, but Kos is a bloody long way and I have loads of boating mates at my marina in the UK and dont really want to miss the summer here.

Plus I really want to put some hours on the boat to justify the move.

Re: Getting it home

erm missing the summer in the uk? well ok fair enuf, my goodness that puts a lot of pressure on the move asap what with it being early february already, not a moment to lose.

Re: Getting it home

Berth while September, season in the sun? Plenty of Charter flights to Kos.

Go on Jez give it a try.

Re: Getting it home

yipes, i didn't know it was a flippin FREE berth. Normally when someone in the med says "I can have the berth till september" it means they are paying and don't get chucked out till september.

Yes, i do a bit think hauling it out of a free med berth is a bit of a shame. Is it really reallty free?
