Sounds like a lot of work ... aren't there any others you could look at that might not have these problems? There are 60 odd on Yachtworld.

There are 76 listed 'boats', first 2/3 fall in OP's model, that leaves say 40. Lets rule out all the Turkey ones, then Greece etc etc, we now have c. 30.
Then lets rule out the double listings, there are about 16 actual med boats max of this type, thats before price, and actually getting a returned call to see if they are actually available, or sold some time in the last year etc.....

Unfortunately when browsing, on the face of it can look like there are loads to pick from, but in reality the numbers drop off pretty quick once you start making the actual calls, and then the flights, etc.....
Then the balance of compromises that make up a boat purchase kick in.
Nothing wrong with some remedial works IMHO provided the price reflects it, and you are comfortable with it, as Jrudge appears to be.
Boats it seems, are all about the compromise

Absolutely.
I can definitely confirm that a proper search for a used boat takes time, effort, money and passion. A fair amount of each.
I went to see boats advertised as in great conditions for their age which were total wrecks - as well as I found a few boats which were actually better than I expected.
Like a Spertini Alalunga which, if it weren't that swmbo reminded me in not unclear terms why we were changing our boat, I would have bought in a heartbeat, sigh...!
And the only way to check is jump on the car - or plane, whatever. Anything else just doesn't work.

Fwiw, nothing of what jrudge mentioned would have made me rule out a boat, and suggesting to look elsewhere just for those reasons is totally unrealistic.
It's all down to negotiating a realistic price which reflects what has to be done.
Of course, there's always the alternative of forking out 6 digits amounts for a new boat, for those who prefer not bothering with any refitting jobs...
