New Boat - Princess 56

This afternoon I agreed a deal with James Barke of Boats.co.uk to part-Exchange my Fairline Squadron 58 for a new Princess 56.

This is a boat in build with a delivery date of the end of May - early June. Off to the Factory in 2 weeks time for a look over and will post all the pictures etc then.

Very excited and pleased with the deal.
 
Always a shame to see someone defecting to Princess but I hope you'll love your new boat as much as your last. Will look forward to seeing the 56 pics and I'm sure the offer of a Fairline factory visit will remain open.

It was with a very heavy heart after 7 Fairlines that I moved to Princess but I could not see a boat in the current Fairline range that I could move to - The 65 is a great boat but a load more money and a big boat for just me and SWMBO to handle when the kids aren't around - The Princess 56 is as long as my current SQ58 but it appears a lot bigger inside due to the use of glass and the extra height in the cabins.
 
Congratulations admillington , lovely boat . My better half loves the galley position " much more sociable" . Look forward to see her pootle past the haven .
 
The 56 is a great boat. I've just spent quite a bit of time on one. In truth it's closer to 60 feet and as you say voluminous inside. Great master cabin with flat floor / ceiling and big head room.

Very big storage under the cockpit for all your boating bits & pieces. Are you going for crew cabin or additional storage?

Which of the engine options will she have? Air conditioning if fitted is unbelievably effective which was a relief out here in the tropics. Some subtle fabric and material textiles used inside.

Interesting to hear your comments on the Squadron 65. Whilst it doesn't have the huge windows and internal volume it's a big boat and I always felt an option if the price was right, but it would have to be priced to tempt. Priced on equal terms I think you made the right choice, the Princess gives more volume per metre of length and length seems to dictate price.

If you can post up pictures along the way it would be good to see. You must be excited !!

The boat spec was set by BCU as they know what sells when I come to move her on, so has the crew cabin etc.

She has the Volvo D13 -800s - given the choice I would have liked the CATs but as I say this is as such a stock boat but I am getting it factory fresh - a first for me.

The Sq65 would have been a £1m more than the P56!

Excited - very.......

Professionals don't usually make too many mistakes when optioning their stock boats. Both our Princess purchases were stock boats. I must be honest I'm easy when it comes to the fit out providing nothing is too way out & whacky. We have actually had stuff in the spec which we wouldn't have chosen to pay for but having owned the boats wouldn't be without. Because they have been stock boats we've had a bit of a deal so didn't pay for everything fitted.

I am surprised at the difference in price between Princess and Fairline. That didn't make it a hard decision then :)

You've chosen a very good boat. 2 seating areas, 3 genuinely usable cabins and as you say a social galley position. The only thing I wrestle with coming from the P50 is not having a full size fridge freezer.
