hi all, well after listening to all the advice given on the forum and hours upon the internet we have finally bought our next boat. we have gone for a Hardy Seawings 314, taking delivery early december but the radar and plotter which is a old ray marine C70 and a navman 900 gps tracker i would like to replace, after buying the boat haven't got loads of spare cash but if anyone knows of anyone who is upgrading and would have a system better than what i have got please let me know

Cactus Navigation sometimes have some bonkers packages around the boat show-whether that meets your needs or not, I dont know.
Some of the cheaper "plotters" are stripped down for fishing, meaning they dont have or need as many connections at the back as your old 1990 sound surround amp would have. You def need nmea 2k, and wifi can help a bit with set ups etc. Just be careful not to get too basic a unit, but equally if you dont need to connect every device know to man, then there is little need in paying for that.
Check out the cost of charts and updates too.. the hardware might seem a bargain but the chart areas vary by manufacturer...you might find one covers all your needs and another would mean buying two charts. That could cost more than the device.
I'd start with what I'd be connecting now and the future, and see what meets that need because if minimal that will drop the price a lot.
I have Garmin, but I ve been very impressed with the smaller Simrad unit I also have, and even after some years with Garmin I still prefer the visual of Navionics.

Hi, I have a Raymarine e80 plotter and a new style analogue scanner with cables, pm me if you are interested.

You'd be better off buying a C80 to replace the C70 if you just want a bigger screen. The E80 offers networking and video which I doubt you will make use of anyway. You don't need an RD218 scanner for this either.
