New boat day!

14 knots of wind blowing you off a pontoon. There is a lot of windage on this boat and the stern thruster can only do so much. The bow thuster can cope, so practice is everything!
 
The boat has a large prop and rudder...so you need to practice prop steering....but in tight situations you’ve got to spin that big destroyer wheel from lock to lock quickly and work the throttle forward and back. Single engine boating is all about anticipation...get as much information as you can about local conditions and have a plan b. It’s a slow boat...and that teaches you patience, so waiting for a good weather window is just part of the fun
