Ooh thanks LJS. Funnily enough, two of the loos are in stock and have been ordered but one (for the crew cabin) is on long term back order and will take a while to get from the UK suppliers. I can get it in France but it's a big box to bring back on the plane. What I need is a Tecma Silence (NOT Silence "Plus" and NOT "cut"), short, 24v, 2 button control, white. The fourth one down on this page. If you have a new one of those in stock I'll give you whatever you paid for it!
It wont be overland delivery (did Brendan start that rumour?!) it'll go as ship deck cargo like the last one...
Yup mike. I considered Sq55 and while I like much of it, as I've said on other threads it pays too high a price for the mid cabin imho. I has no utility room, whereas I'll have one with separate 60cm washer and 60cm drier, freezer, crew bed, WC and lots of storage. All that is massively important on a busy boat. And the 55 has no internal stairs, and I dont like its low radar arch
I'm nicking a few features off the Sq55 though. Mine will be fitted with Sq55 steering wheels (!) and I'm having the gorgeous Recaro seats that are on the Sq55 flybridge, only I'll have 3 not 2! If you sat in those at any boat shows you'll see how nice they are
I considered Azi 58 carefully and it was a fine call but I still prefer the Sq58 to it. Reasons on this post on Mario's thread
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I could probably do an Alistair. Hand it over to the forum relay driver #1 in Southapmpton, and fly down to Antibes to meet it a week later /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
No! you know me better than that Mapis /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. That photo was taken before the wrapper was added. Here's one an hour later...
Seriously LJS, does it meet the spec in all other respects? I'm struggling to source that exact model so I could just fit it and get a new 24v motor from Tecma as a spare part later. Or use a 24-12v dropper. The control box works on 10-32v dc so no problem there
All fair comment on the Sq55 and AZ58, jfm. Yup, I would miss the internal stairs and one of the major irritants on my existing boat is not having an easily accessible utility room/4th cabin. Also agree with you on the engine room space. My boat has the fuel tank forward of the engines and it's surprising how much space that frees up to get around the engines to other components and, yup, again fresh water capacity is important for Med cruising. It's amazing how much water 5 or 6 peeps on a boat in the Med can use in just one day. Spot on also on the upper helm. Italian builders have a blind spot when it comes to helm design, comfort and ergonomics. The Sq58 fly helm is just way better than any Az or Ferretti and that Aicon thingy. Yup, sat in the Sq55 helm seats at SIBS and I could have sat there all day until SWMBO dragged me off. Not sure I agree about Az build quality though and I think the AZ58 will be a good used seller because it's been so popular new
Interesting to hear that you looked at Selene. Any thoughts apart from the obvious that it's much slower?
Congratulations anyway. I hope you'll be happy with her
Well I was joking but have just opened up the box and hey presto it's the exact model you're after! And it's 24v not 12 as I thought. And the control panel has 2 switches.
Why I thought it was 12v I just don't know. Must be old age creeping up......;-)
The Selene is lovely. There's on on my quay 4 doors down anda dealer nearby. But it offers no better spaces than Sq58 (for a 5m beam, my berth size) and it offers no better mpg at 10knts. Sure, its a better ride at 10kts than the Sq in a bad sea but much of my long sistance cruising is in flat seas. And the Sq58 will do 32kts if I want it to, which the Selene wont, which is relevant to whether I catch the 21.50 plane on sunday nights! So overall I decided against it, but it's a lovely boat for sure
Fab. Well, if you definitely want to sell it (I don't wanna pressurise you, feel free to say no!) I'll buy it for the new price plus delivery. Dunno what that is but £500 and something i think.
Just to be crystal clear:
It has to be the "short" version, 360mm high that mounts on a step and has some of the internal workings protruding below the step. NOT the 460mm high model
And it has to be NOT the "cut" version. The cut version has an angled back, for fitting back to a sloping wall. I need the NOT cut version, with a vertical back, for fitting against a straight pure vertical bulkhead.
And it has to be the standard version NOT the "plus" version. The "plus" version is 500mm front to back with an elliptical bowl about the size of a normal house toilet. The standard version is 430mm front to back, so a smaller (almost round) bowl
Picture below
If it ticks those boxes. Can you pm me address (for a cheque) or bank a/c number (for bank transfer). Do you reckon it is feasible for you to parcel post it to me c/o Essex boatyards, or would the post office go mad with a box that size? I'll pay postage.
Whaddya think? No worries if you change your mind and wanna keep it but if you'd like to sell it then I'd be v happy to buy.
Hi JFM, could I interest you in a Klargester "Holding Tank" inspection cover that I have for sale on here at the mo ? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Feel free to peruse my "stock items" I need to make space for some new ebay essential purchases
Oh yes. Having just bort a lovely kahzee from LJS I'm your man for inspection covers. A fiver, or 3 quid if it has any not-scraped-off clag stains on it?
I like them a lot, in the 57-60 range. What lets them down is the terrible flybridge layout, where there is no decent lunch table. If I modded it the way poster Nick H has done and fitted a bigger table and stuff it would be fine, but I dont want to do that. I'd still marginally prefer the Sq, but a modded Princess is a good boat and would be on my shortlist
