new Benetti 85 Legend

Well,

That looks a serious yacht! Built to look like a serious yacht and laid out for long range cruising! I like it a lot, and from Benneti it will be well made as well.

Cheers

Well, a serious boat she surely is, but from the design viewpoint they didn't make a great job, which is unusual for Azimut Group.
Not as ugly as the Sunseeker 37, but almost, imho.
Btw, the aerial pic doesn't show the line properly. The following gives a better idea:

it would be good to know what you dont like about her

for e.g. what I dont like most about the Sunseeker 37 M is its low freeboard compared to the high superstructure....
for this Benetti I would have prefered a higher bow, but may be for 25 it would look to cramped
IMO it looks well balanced

Very nice but it looks a bit fussy and over designed IMO, every shaped window you can think of and i'm not sure about those fin like structures on the topsides.

yep, like one of those childrens shape-boards where you try to stick the right one in the right hole.

It's not easy to say, actually.
Probably, the "over designed" definition which Lambada gave is what best summarize the poor overall result.
And it's not just a matter of high superstructure, either.
The following is a similar size displacement boat, with quite some superstucture, but her no-fuss styling gives a much better final result imho.

And of course, as always when debating about aesthetic, everything is subjective!
After all, it seems that Sunseeker got some orders for their 37...
...and I even heard people saying that the "Roberto Cavalli" Baglietto is one of the most beautiful boats around!?!

Well, the concept drawings showed an ugly design and it does'nt look any better in the flesh IMHO. There are far too many curves and shapes clashing with each other. I really hate those mullions next to the side decks and the aft part of the flybridge looks ridiculous. I suspect the designer thought he was doing something 'organic' but it just looks like a Taiwanese lash up to me
Benettis are about classical elegance and this is neither classical nor elegant

hmm I personally like the Baglietto 38 of RC but then if you want to buy that boat you dont look at this one...
as for the Benetti do agree about the too much windows
the mullions do add a classic touch to it
but I tihnk if seen for real this MY will give a much better affect then on pictures

I like the look of it except the window/front deck arrangement. Would look a bit more traditional and pleasing on the eye if the front deck was flat but I guess that would lose a lot of internal space.

Oops, sorry for my joke on that boat... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
On the other hand, I wonder - even remaining within the boundaries of modern design, and with the same builder - how anyone could prefer the RC to the other Baglietto below, just as an example...

PS: for some reason, the pics don't show directly - I guess it has something to see with the target site.
The examples can be found here (RC) and here (The One), anyhow.

Ciao Mapis
the pictures are not showing up and I am really curious about them /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
its just an opinion nothing personal if everyone would like all things the same I think everyone will buy the same boat, the same car, same food and same woman etc etc LOL /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I thing being different and choosing different is so nice and fruitful for a healthy market
also in the last year competition is increasing in semi-planning, semi-displacement or not so fast boats so this is making the market also intersting with new alternatives
for e.g. the Italians seem to be going for Navetta (ship) style boats while the Americans are trawler orientated

I would definitly choose The One over RC
as that is one of my favorite Baglietto designs
that design is also available in 38 mtr and now also in 42 looks also better, Pure Baglietto
but Baglietto has also been known in the past like an important high fashion design house for its extravagant design builds that is why RC has my tumbs up /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
