New anchoring restrictions Cote D'Azur

I don’t know about Spain but in France, when a local authority changes the use of an anchorage (which is actually very common) all they have to do is put a notice on the notice board of the townhall. Regardless if the boater is new to the area and has just arrived by sea it’s incumbent on them to know where they can or cannot park regardless what’s on your most upto date charts and guides

The only place that published this was the Mallorca Daily Bulletin.

it is allegedly under the Natura 2000 plan, but I can find no other references to these limitations.

Have you been successful in finding anything?

there is where I read it, but not found anymore on it. Will see if I can find some more, but if you havent I doubt I will.

This is my morning walk in Hicksville (thanks Porto!). There were pink flamingos but it was so chilly early in the morning I expected to see penguins

I'm a bertholder at Port Vauban and they've sent us 2 sets of new regulations for the Cote d'Azure - one for boats >20m and the other for boats >24m.

In summary it looks like if you're over 20m, you cannot now anchor in the coastline between Nice and Monaco (eg Villefranche and Beaulieu), and then from Cap Roquebrune to Monaco. Well you can, but as the no-anchor area generally extends to around the 25-30m depth contour line, you'd need a lot of chain and willingness to anchor without shelter!

The new rules are more prohibitive if you're over 24m - it's the largely the same as above, except you also can't anchor in most of the area around Baie de Cannes all the way round to Antibes. So importantly you can't anchor in or around the Iles de Lerins. I attach the map showing this.

My own boat's 22m, and there were already restrictions in place last year in certain areas (for example around Juan-les-Pins area - and there were police boats strictly enforcing the rules; rumours of very large fines being levied. It's a bit different, but I heard of someone speeding around the Cap d'Antibes this year who had his boat seized until he'd been to court - which took a month!

I think this relates to it - Approved Natura Plans. I thought I had seem a map with some restrictions but not found it since. Seemed to indicate there were no restrictions within the palma bay or much west until you get to dragonara. Will see if I can find that again.

It’s not even worth doing the lottery anymore☹️?

I know of somebody with a 20m+ boat who was fined in Villefranche already. Those of us with 19.96m long boats in SoF are feeling quite smug :D

I must admit to slowing down as I round the Cap d' Antibes and wonder at the number of boats who still whip past me.
