New 'aid to navigation'?!

Re: New \'aid to navigation\'?!

Guapa seen in the chandlery buying a large hook and a 100m of bungee cord.....

Re: New \'aid to navigation\'?!

New technology. In order to compete with the new freight ship with a kite, motor-boaters have now developed a means of following ferry's using a modern high grade device called "The Rope". Fuel savings are said to be close to 100% & emissions are reduced to those of a small generator to make the tea. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: New \'aid to navigation\'?!

I guess that is good news for Ipswich, not so good for Orwell yachties. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have noticed that the Anglian Way and her sisters that used to operate into Ipswich are now using Harwich International.

Re: New \'aid to navigation\'?!

Mr Bottles will be there Friday afternoon, breeze allowing. Hope we dont have to motor there again.

Re: New \'aid to navigation\'?!

This won't pose any new problems on the orwell. Freighters ply their trade up and down all the time. This will only be two crossings a day, Ferryways was three!

I wondered why we hadn't seen Ferryways for a while!

There were only three for a time, anyway they went bust last year sometime so suddenly they were none, and it has been a bit more peaceful since.

What was noticeable was the water was generally clearer in that you could almost see the bottom in more than a foot or so /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I don't mind the traffic really, it adds interest to the river scene, but they do occasionally run amok and carry off moored yachts /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
