New 64 Obsolete

Clive

I read that article on the Atlantis 50 as well.
They call it a 4 x 4 which is where I think you thought it was a 4 engine boat.
In fact, 4 x 4 is missleading
They mean that you can specify one of 4 styles when you order.
Either a 2 of 3 cabin and with / without patio doors.
Any combination of the above - i.e. 4 different options.

Not very clear is it?

?????
just a correction here
it is actually called 50x4, and is powered by twin IPS600
very interesting info re service intervals for MTU versus Volvo

And yes, I do believe that Volvo supply Cat 1 oil at (well - at least) Cat 2 prices - so now you are out of warranty - why not treat your engines to some good stuff. I know you will notice the difference.

Mike, small point and a bit thread drifty, but your implication that Volvo brand oil must be used to stay in warranty is not what I've found. When my last D12s were still in warranty and being serviced "by the book" by the Volvo agent, they asked me if I wanted a premium oil from their stock/range and they supplied BP Vallenus oil, which is a category 2 (15-W40) on the MTU document, same "quality rating" as Shell Rimula. The engines remianed in warranty with stamped service book and they repaired niggles under warranty with no problems. So, there is no need, in my experience at least, to use Volvo branded oil during the warranty period (and, indeed, I wouldn't; my new engines will have Sell Rimula or BP Vallenus).
