Apparently Yachting Monthly suggesting old men can be attractive to nubile ladies if they take up sailing,is this a fight back will we have RYA courses in chatting up female crew members(potential)?

RORC used to (or maybe still do) have a cocktail party before the start of each season as an opportunity for owner/skippers to meet new crew and vice versa. The owner requirement depending on boat size was often:

A couple of guys who actually knew what they were doing
A couple of big bicep hairy gorillas for winching
A sprinkling of those with 'some' experience of sailing / racing
The balance being made up by as many young nubiles as could be found

A good owner friend of mine managed to combine the first and last on the above list into one person and is now divorced...

I used to know an old boy in his late 80's who ran a very nicely varnished Folkboat. A 'proper' little yacht. A curious feature was that whenever he went out sailing, which was very frequently, the boat was always decorated with attractive young ladies!

He came in to the shed to arrange haul out at the end of one season, very gloomy as the Doc had told him he must come ashore. The boat was sold (it was in the days when you could sell older boats fairly quickly!), and within 3 months we were attending his funeral.

Now was it the sailing that had kept him going, or the decorative and nubile crews he always carried?

I have been very lucky to have had young ladies amongst my crew for some years. As sailors they have been a joy - very keen, knowledgeable, reliable and good humoured. I wish some of the males were as easy to deal with.
As I get older the absolute number of females who I regard as young increases . Those of marriageable age can be defined as "nubile" but it would take a more stupid man than I to address them with that term.

By the time you get to be an old man, messing about with boats holds more appeal than messing around with "nubile ladies" . For a start you can give the boat a good thrashing without it complaining. You can break wind and it wont comment. It wont tell you to change your underwear. It wont park its cold arse on your in your bunk.

I always remember years ago when the skipper asked one of the crew ( who was a bit of a jack the lad) if he could bring along 5 young ladies. He said "No, but I can bring one lady who can do 5 blokes", the offer was not accepted :(
This morning I met a fellow sailor, (who fancies himself with the other sex), at the recycling centre. He said that it was his 68Th birthday yesterday & that he had taken a young lady to London.
He was not amused when I pointed out that the only way he would get a young lady in his car would be to get a job as a Uber taxi driver.
Somehow I cannot help thinking that the same goes for some of the old farts that I see sailing boats these days.
