today I sailed from Winteringham above the Humber Bridge to Tetney Haven opposite spurn head

I have never seen skies like we had today

thunder cell after thunder cell came sweeping down on and around us

brilliant to look at

frightening to be in

all gone calm now that the energy has gone out of the systems

amazing

only seen skies like these in the prairies

Co-incidence or what?
Yesterday I remarked to my wife that I had never seen a sky as the one presented before us. It was a uniform mid to dark grey with a white stripe running from east to west about third down from top of the sky (if that makes sense). I don't think the discription indicates the oddness of it that occurred to me but perhaps strange that oddness in the sky occurred to two people at least in two parts of the country yesterday. (we were looking out from Bracklesham bay towards the Nab lighthouse.)

It sounds like that sort of day. There was what I can best describe as waves in the sky here yesterday evening (E Coast of Ireland). I think the theory is that waves in the tropopause cause the mackeral type skies, so it might've been something similar, but there was no high level cloud - it was just blue with very distinct blue waves.
