You are all much more knowledgeable than me, can't think of anything you lot wouldn't know straight off, so prize goes to most entertaining answer to the following question:

What's the difference between a cormorant and a shag?

As for the real answer, I haven't got a clue, but I'm sure one or all of you lot know.

A shag doesn't have a whiteish throat. One of them has a forehead but I can't remember which, and one of them flies with the head below the body.

It's the shag with a forehead, and a crest.

British Cormorants never have a shag.
You can have a Black Shag in NZ, but they call it a Cormorant. You can also get a Spotted Shag in NZ and sometimes a Spotted Black Shag with a Cormorant.

You can still have a shag on a Pygmy Cormorant, but you've had it if you want a shag with a Spectacled Cormorant, cos theyre all dead.

Some shags are good at half jumping, so I wonder if they ever finish, and amazingly they are not waterproof.

I will bet that the best shag is probably the Great White Breasted, or Lolo Ferrari shag.

You can't get a Shag or a Cormorant in the Pacific, cos they don't go there.

I would say that I most resemble a King Shag, but that would probably make me a Red Faced Cormorant.

Obviously never had a Chinese takeaway in Spalding then

Bump into them most Saturday nights in the town centre, but they always charge too much and I'm told that half an hour after you've had one, you fancy another
