I heard a great story, now it is true but we will call it a story.

A working type boat on a mid river mooring , can only be reach by another boat, it had usual type stuff on it, safety stuff and a fishing rob as at break time they used to do a bit of fishing.

[now the river is in full ebb]
Now someone [who should know better shall we say] had been doing some work on the work boat with a friend, he needed to pop ashore for something so hops into the rib, unties it, and goes to start the engine, guess what he had left the keys on the work boat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif he is now drifting down the river away from the work boat at quite a speed,

MMMM

what does he do?

He drop the anchor, which holds luckily.

OK so friend on work boat with keys, and he about 30m away mid river with no means of getting back for keys /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So what happened next. scroll down to find out or have a guess!!!

The guy on the work boat, a brainy guy I think you will all agree once you hear what happened next.

He got the rib keys which had a very large float on them and he tied them onto the end of the fishing line.

He then threw them overboard and let them drift, guided them down to the rib, who luckily was directly down tide from him, the rib driver then sorted himself out and returned to the work boat, now said friend was told not to repeat happenings but it is a tail worth tell, and I do not know the rib drivers name but have met the friend. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would have tied keys to fishing rod line added a float and see if i could float keys down to him,

or used the same principle with a painter and small buoy

and I didn't scroll down until I'd posted my guess /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

so do I win a virtual /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'd have tied the fishing line to an arrow, then shot it from a bow at the rib, allowing the gent in question to catch the arrow, then pull the key in at the end of the fishing line.
