Hi,

Does anyone know how you can dissemble the throttle lever button on a Westerly Pageant?

It's firmly stuck - see pic below.

I've removed the lever itself to expose the button but I can't access the button to allow it to retract.

I understand that it is supposed to be able to be pushed in (and out) to take the gearbox out of gear thus to idle and rev.

Thanks.

can you get at the back of the morse unit? the button (IIRC how they actually work) pushes the lug that controls the gearbox linkage out of action so you can give the engine full throttle to start it without the prop spinning. sounds like the works at the back of the morse unit need freeing up - and that will free the button.

The button originally had a red plastic cover, the remains of which you can see. If you break that bit of red plastic off, there's a better chance that the button will work.

+ 1. Get rid of the red plastic bit and there's a better than " better" chance of having no more trouble.

Thanks.

That black cover is held on by snap clips. Ease it off and you can get at the gubbins to clean it all up. Asap Supplies sell new red knobs for a couple of quid.
