Not sure if it's been mentioned here, but the Haringvliet bridge has limited openings this summer. Only opening twice a day during the week 11am and 7pm, with an extra 5pm opening at weekends. Max height without opening is 12m.
. . . usually stayed in Helluvaplace, whose spelling I can't be bothered to look up.
Yeah. Actually I borrowed the nickname from someone long ago who couldn't remember the name. My abiding memory of Hellevoetsluis is of when it was pouring with rain and I went with my son, who was then about 14, into an Indo-Chinese restaurant to book a table for the evening. As we were making the arrangements, having entered in our full oilies a dutchman came in similarly clad. He proceeded to take off his oilies but when it came to removing the salopettes he inadvertently dropped his trousers with them, leaving him standing there in his underpants with three or four Indo-Chinese girl waitresses giggling at the sight.Hellevoetsuis?
(Though I shall henceforth adopt your version! ? )
