Does anyone know of a UK source for small mesh hammocks suitable for storing fruit and veg and small enough to hang up in odd corners of the boat?

I suppose I could just buy some netting and make a DIY job of it, but I would prefer not to have to do this.

Any ideas?

I bought a couple of string bags to use for that, off ebay. Be careful if using them under way, had pulverised banana everywhere where the bag continually bashed against the mast support...:o

I think 'Nauticalia' used to do them, maybe still do, but I'm not sure how actually practically useful these 'ornaments' may be...

Just a thought, one sometimes sees things like Teddy bears in shop windows in hammocks, might be worth googling in that direction !

I suspect buying proper netting is the answer.

Not much help but the only source I know of is SWMBO.........makes them herself from craft cotton. Stuff she also uses to make dishcloths.

Thanks for all the responses so far - except LadyInBed's, obviously. :)

West Marine sell them, but that's over there.

So... yet another DIY job.

With a lot of items on the chandlers' shelves, which no-one could possibly need, it looks like a (very small) gap in the market.

Cheers

Mackeril netting and bungie cord.

Doesn't stop a few guests nibbling yer nanas though :D

I tried guard rail netting but it really needs to be twice the width for a proper vedge net.

Sorry forgot to mention it is doubled up, a string runs zig-zag through the middle connecting both halves, and two shorter strings run through the outside giving it its baggy shape!

This was invented and implemented by a visiting crewmember, I was rather pleased :)

Conachair

Like the bat! Probably eating your fruit flies, but I think I'd want to keep my toes under the duvet at night.

:D

Kids stores - Kids R us etc - stock these things for teddies - just the size for fruits. And reasonably priced. Look on line
