Neptunus 56

I think also to remember this was launched in 2005 so its not really new
Saloon layout looks ok, but to have the l-shaped settee by the helm, they sacrifize all saloon, prefare an AZ 55 or new Squadron 55 layout to this x2 as apart settees you need to want moving space around a boat this size

Externally looks like a cross between Princess and Jeanneau. Internally the galley is a bit too sprawling, so the dinette is small. Flybridge is OK, but again the table is too small.

I think it's OK and prefer it to most N American offerings, but would put most euro boats of the same size ahead of it. Would have it in preference to an AZ55 or Aicon 56 though, cos the saloon on those boats are too cramped.

Each to his own, I guess. It does look a bit old fashioned and the interior styling is a bit 90's IMHO. Compared to the AZ58, the flybridge and the overhang over the cockpit is much smaller and this is a big minus point on a Med boat, at least. The forward dinette in the saloon is not very useable having only one entry/exit point and the lower helm seat is non adjustable which is bad. Otherwise it looks OK but IMHO it's also about price and the dgree of customisation permitted. If the price is say 10-20% less than the AZ and the buyer gets some choice on layout, then it's a contender but otherwise not methinks

.. except of course, at the moment, a Princess 54 is almost half the price of an Az 58, and Pr 58, Sq55, Sealine T60, SS 60 are 20-30% less.

Yup, true enough but it doesn't seem to be helping the Brit builders much judging by the reports of redundancies and restructuring. In fact, it shows just how bad the new boat market is at present if the Brit builders can't keep their factories busy even with a 30% currency advantage and, if it's bad for them, it must be even worse for the European builders struggling with both the market and the currency

Yep, you can only conclude that very few people are buying new boats across Europe. There's an Azi 58 being hawked around by the UK distributor at the moment, for about €1.4m, which is £1.3m today. A Princess 58 is £800k, and you'd get a discount on that! Now don't get me wrong, in a straight choice i'd take the Azi every time, but can many buyers justify an extra half a million? My guess is they can't, and Azimut will be suffering even more than the UK builders.

The UK Ferretti dealer has been exhibiting the same demo 510 at boat shows since LIBS 2008. The list price is £1.3m or whatever now and he's had the boat up for sale at £750k for several months and he still can't shift it.
Agree, no way is the AZ58 worth £0.5m more than the P58. Anyway, given the state of the UK economy, I'd be thinking it would be my patriotic duty to buy the Prinnie irrespective of the price diferential /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bugger another £200k or so off and I might have been interested myself /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
