I need to make a new gasket for my 18 inch square hatch, and need 5 mm sponge type closed cell sheet - the sort used in wetsuits. Anybody know of a source?

If really need sheets of the stuff then I think Pointnorth do it.

I've used the 'P' section self adhesive weatherstrip used on doors & windows as sold by B&Q or other DIY stores. There is also a 'W' section available. I've used this on hatches which are only opened occasionally.

If you need to cut from sheets RS carry a good stock of closed cell neoprene.

you'll find a range of products.

I did that once - wanted some thin latex strapping to repair some hinges on me laptop - got some very weird catalogues (all under plain wrapper) in response to my innocent enquiry ....

I second that - they're near the football stadium and if you make a template, they can cut the gasket from sheet material or supply a number of seal sections which may suit. They also have a website where you can download catalogues.
