Ok. so This is my first post. I have grown up around Cobalts, and I don't want to start a comment war here but I've always been taught that they're top of the line. I recently was offered an opportunity to buy a classic Cobalt that was used in their 1976 Brochure. Its a 16 foot BR in like new condition Its 35 years old and only has 208 hrs on it. My friend works at a dealership and he's offered it to me for $10,000. they recently put it through the ringer and it runs perfect

My question is whats it really worth. what would you pay for a classic like this?

I'd try an american forum for that info....

AFAIK, Cobalt were only launched in the UK in the mid 2000's even though they'd been out for a long time in the US.

It's also very very hard to value a very old immaculate boat - PERSONALLY I like my boat to look "modern" and walk away from the older (pre 2000) boats if their styling / instruments are "dated".

There are probably a LOT more people who actively seek out an old boat to recapture the mood of the time / reclaim their "yoof" or whatever reason - and these people are no more wrong or right in their wants and needs... they just want what they want.

In my humble opinion, I wouldn't want to buy the boat, thus my valuation would be low - but I don't doubt there would be a lot of people who WOULD want to buy it....

So the only thing with something like that is work out what it's worth TO YOU?

It has no value other than this - it's what you are prepared to pay for it, and how much more you are prepared to pay than the next guy who looks at it - because ultimately whoever makes the best offer over the sellers lowest sale point gets the boat.
